On July 3^rd 2012, in the Privilege Club of Ibiza, the MAGMA will rise from underground and pave the way for the birth of the Balearic Trance.

MAGMA is the new party concept created by Faruk Gandji, the man responsible for many of the most talked about and frequented events in Ibiza’s clubbing history during the 1980’s, making his a legend of Ibiza’s night life. He is also the creative force behind the hugely popular facebook page “KU Ibiza Best Years”.

Faruk considers himself a Master of Ceremony as opposed to today’s Promoters, and is known among Dj’s for his old school insistence on “auditioning” the musical line up in order to insure that the whole flows together consistently, logically and according to his vision.

Unable to remain passive as his beloved island slips further into soulless decadence, Faruk has come back on the scene to restore originality, finesse and the homegrown touch to Ibiza’s clubbing culture.

The MAGMA Musical Style

The first MAGMA party will introduce a new musical trend called “Balearic Trance”, which is where Ibiza would stand musically had it resisted commercialization.

Balearic Trance is a mix of danceable trance sounds from all over the world with an emphasis on progressive and psytrance. It is the direct descendant of the Balearic Beat, which consisted of dance music from all over the world with an emphasis on New Wave and Synthpop.

Balearic Trance is the music that Ibiza residents identify with and is the sound that speaks the clearest truth about the island and its celestial magic.

The MAGMA Line Up

Joe Markendale (Dj Joe Sonic), signed to the internationally acclaimed Alchemy Records, is the man behind the futuristic trance sounds of Sonic Species and, also the cutting edge audio-visual dance band Bonze.

Joe has been making his signature futuristic style of Trance music for 10 years, after having been inspired by some of the fresh sounds of the beginning of the millennium. Joe is a live performer, Dj and Trance producer who has played a wide range of events from major trance festivals to rocking premiership dance floors across the globe with the top artists and Dj’s on the scene.

Sonic Species’ debut release ‘Lost Transmission’ was an instant hit across the globe, followed by the summer festival anthem ‘Bend The Future’ (Neuroiotic Records, 2009). Sonic Species’ EP “Machina Terra” was released in the summer 2010 and, it’s title track ‘Machina Terra’ was played at Armin Van Buuren’s: A State Of Trance in Sydney, Australia in 2011. In 2012, his hit album track ‘Zero’ was featured on USA’s number 1 Trance Dj Christopher Lawrence’s April Rush Hour radio mix.  Sonic Species debut album, “Unleash The Beat”, released in April 2012, is now taking the trance scene by storm.

Dj Joe Sonic naturally merges all his inspiration and experience into every performance and is a master at warming up a crowd. For his debut appearance in Ibiza, he will be playing a powerful and epic blend of uplifting and intelligent Balearic Trance specially designed to rock your body and open your mind.

Andrei Oliver Brasovean (Dj Andrei) has more than 18 years experience as an electronic music producer and is the man behind the atypical trance group Atma. He also composes music for commercial bands (house, techno, dance, pop, rock, hip hop…) as well as being a film music producer.

Andrei is one of the pioneers of electronic music in Eastern Europe, and is known around the globe for having developed his own totally unique style of electronic dance music.  His long musical background and experience of working different musical styles are key components to his new definition of trance dance music consisting of deep melodies, perfect harmonies, psychedelic sounds and pumping basslines.

Atma achieved great success with his first two solo albums, “Beyond Good & Evil” (Geomagnetic.Tv 2006) and “The Secrets Of Meditation” (Y.S.E / Millennium Records 2009), and even greater critical acclaim with his most recent creation “Music Reveloution” (Bmss Rec, November 2011). He has brought his signature style to major festivals and events all over the world.

Dj Andrei mixes his impressive range of experience into an energetic current of original trance dance music. For his debut appearance in Ibiza, he will be playing a completely unique and astounding arrangement of melodic yet pumping Balearic Trance sounds that will set the place on fire and awaken your spirit.

Benji Vaughan (Dj Benji), who has released music under many names and is a legend of the Twisted Records label, is the man behind the trance solo project Prometheus and is one half of the eclectic duo, Younger Brother, with Simon Posford (Hallucinogen). He is also the talent behind the cutting-edge trance group The Zapp! .

Benji’s style is characterized by his unique or alternative approach to the trance genre. He flawlessly fuses distinct basslines, high production quality and intense thematic development with diatonic melodic content and glitchy percussive polyphonic elements. His music is world renowned for its innovation, dancefloor appeal and systematic incorporation of non-traditional influences.

Prometheus has release three albums that have been well received by the trance community; “Robot-O-Chan” (Twisted Records 2004), “Corridor Of Mirrors” (Twisted 2007) and “Spike” (Twisted 2010).  Younger Brother have also released three successful albums; “A Flock Of Bleeps” (Twisted 2003), “The Last Days Of Gravity” (Twisted 2007) and “Vaccine” (Twisted 2011). Younger Brother’s music is extremely varied and is a shining example of the vast range Benji is capable of mastering.

Dj Benji has brought his unique style of Tech-Trance to massive audiences around the globe and his live sets are legendary. For his debut appearance in Ibiza, he will be weaving a distinctive selection of metallic percussive beats and ethereal vocals into astral tapestries of sound that will shake the Balearic trance floor and leave the crowd enlightened.
