Release date: October 15th, 2012. Culprit
Sun-soaked ‘A Night in Nassau’ is an exceptionally upbeat slice of modern disco with a twist. A piece of machine soul where strong electronic groove sits comfortably underneath original piano keys and vocals, a stardust-like melodic bassline and those ubiquitous warm guitar licks that are the unifying musical element of Culprit’s summer output.
‘Such a Dreamer’ is a very cutting edge update on the Italo sounds circa 1983, a little bit tough and propulsive but with a soft, piano-led middle and a killer arpeggiated bassline in the finest Moroder tradition.
The EP slots in perfectly with its “summer trilogy” predecessors – the A side invisibly connected to jozif’s ‘Standard Rising,’ the flip closer to the Climbers deep electronic edge.
Completing the package is two variations on ‘A Night in Nassau ´ that will appeal to DJs in different sonic moods.
Never loopy, always evolving and musically sophisticated, ‘Bahamas EP’showcases Luca Bacchetti at his best retro, yet uniquely forward-thinking self…fitting Culprit’s modus operandi to a tee.
