St Plomb - Precious Soul

St Plomb-Precious Soul

The previous release on Ripperton's always excellent Perspectiv label was his own birth homage, 1976'. Alongside its heart-warming remix from Sebo-K. It's become a DJ favourite and cornerstone of the chart rundowns. How do you follow such a release? Well with the Swiss maestro at the helm its no surprise to learn that its with yet another fantastic production, backed by an equallyimpressive remix package.

St Plomb is an artist who, whilst following no rules in his work, is helplessly addicted to the groove. Hardly a surprise since he began his musical journey as a funk-rock drummer, before turning his skills and attention to turntables and samplers.

Brought up on a diet of jazz, funk, afro-beat, reggae and gospel, he has striven to recreate this lost 70's time of disco utopia: liberty, sound quality, challenging uncompromised selection and free love for all...

Funk is the key ingredient in St Plomb's DJ, live sets and contemporary dance compositions, and today's 'Precious Soul' is no exception. Deep and soulful, helped in no small part by the smooth as silk vocal, the track displays a discreet, hip-grinding groove throughout.

Nothing discreet about the first remix from Stuttgart's finest and Philpot/Phil_e label boss Jackmate, as he reshapes the original into a bass-heavy and outrageously good, twisted tech-house gem. Genre defying, Jackmate's 'NDS Boogie' rework is set to take over all dancefloors.

The other remix is again provided Jackmate. This time however under what he describes as his 'musically inspired' alias, SoulPhiction. Plunging back into deeper territory, his 'Kindadub' is the perfect early morning antidote to his former peaktime offering.

Overall another stunning release from Perpectiv and proof yet again that its always best to lead the crowd rather than follow.
