Amnesia closes 50th anniversary season with 19-hour celebration

Amnesia closed its 50th anniversary season on Saturday 10 October with a 19-hour Closing Festival that ran until midday on Sunday, bringing together thousands of clubbers for a celebration of the Ibiza venue’s musical heritage.

For the first time in the club’s history, the car park was transformed into an open-air dancefloor, recreating the spirit of Ibiza’s early clubbing years. Luca Donzelli opened the programme, followed by Kolter b2b Traumer, Joseph Capriati, who welcomed a surprise appearance by Locomía, Alisha b2b Julian Fijma, Groove Armada and Max Dean.

Meanwhile, El Taller, a newly opened intimate space, paid tribute to five decades of Amnesia through sets by Franco Moiraghi, Jason Bye and resident Les Schmitz.

On the Terrace, house music shaped the night and morning, with performances from Jamie Fielding, Luke Dean b2b Locky, Marco Faraone b2b Obskür and Max Dean b2b Sidney Charles. Musical director Mar-T delivered a special tribute to the club’s history, before Saoirse b2b Enzo Siragusa guided the crowd towards sunrise.

Joseph Capriati and Josh Baker closed the season with a final set lasting three hours and eight minutes, ending with Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’. The celebration also welcomed Pepe Roselló, the founder of Space Ibiza, marking five decades of club culture on the island.
