O Beach Ibiza and Bam-Bu-Ku continue their monthly beach clean-ups

For a seventh consecutive year, O Beach Ibiza and its sister restaurant Bam-Bu-Ku have reaffirmed their commitment to the environment and the local community by organising a series of monthly beach clean-ups in San Antonio Bay.

This community initiative, organised in collaboration with the Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Hall and IbizaPreservation, has become a true summer tradition - promoting action, environmental awareness, and respect for the island’s natural surroundings.

Participation is free and open to everyone, with the next beach clean-up taking place on Sunday, August 31st, at 09:30 am, meeting point Bam-Bu-Ku.

Equipped with  sieves, tongs, and other tools provided by the organisers, participants will be picking up litter along the coastline for around an hour, before being treated to a complimentary coffee break courtesy of Bam-Bu-Ku and, as a token of appreciation, will receive a free ticket to O Beach Ibiza’s ON111 party the following Thursday.

As well as providing equipment, IbizaPreservation collects data on the amount and type of waste gathered for the Marnoba app of the Asociación Vertidos Cero. In this way, they contribute to a national citizen science project that helps improve knowledge about marine pollution and drive more effective prevention, awareness, and conservation actions for Spain’s seas and coasts.

Since the first edition in 2018, the beach clean-ups have seen the participation of hundreds of volunteers: O Beach Group employees, residents, visitors, local families, and sports clubs sponsored by the group. Tons of waste have been collected, from plastics and cigarette butts to large objects.

"Ibiza is so much more than a party island. It is our home. This initiative was born from the desire to take care of our surroundings and give back to the island for everything it gives us," says Duane Lineker, CEO of O Beach Group.

If you cannot make it to the beach clean-up on August 31st, the next event will take place on September 20th to coincide with World Cleanup Day.
